This was my favorite tea before they changed the recipe and the box. The new recipe has a yellow label stating "Improved Flavor! More Antioxidants!". Also, the new recipe turns yellow when added to water. YELLOW? WHAT ARE THEY THINKING???

The taste of the tea is OK for a green tea but it doesn't have any recognizable blueberry flavor. I purchased 30 boxes of this stuff when it went on sale at Pathmark ($1.66 a box) when I discovered the tea was yellow and awful (for a blueberry tea that is). I contacted Celestial Seasonings and they remedied my situation by offering me 5 coupons for 5 free boxes of any flavor of their tea. Rather than return my tea, I used the coupons to buy the "True Blueberry" herbal tea which is quite excellent but no has caffeine (which I desperately need). I now mix one True Blueberry bag with one New Recipe bag to create a tea similar to the older more wonderful Blueberry Breeze.

I'm also angry at the box redesign. The older boxes are artistic with literary quotes and a caffeine meter. The new boxes look cold and "corporate".

My other favorite tea "Honey Lemon Ginseng Green Tea" was also reformulated but it tastes the same as the original so no complaints.

Original 1/16/09 post, Delish! was the title: This is a fruity flavor, almost like a fruit punch. There is somewhere in there a slight tart taste, but it works well.

You will also find blueberry herbal teas. Each herbal tea offers its own health benefit. However the polyphenols found in green teas, and generally not in herbal teas, are backed by study after study suggesting their use prevents chronic diseases, including heart disease, diabetes, and cancer. I've hit the jackpot: a flavor I love AND a superfood in one!

Update 4/14/09: read ingredients. I just bought a box of Blueberry Breeze at the supermarket. It's marked as "Improved Taste". Don't buy this improved taste one. Make sure you get the one with the Hibiscus, and Blackberry and Blueberry leaves. Makes all the difference. The box I bought at the supermarket is nowhere near the flavor of the original. Even the color is different. Instead of ruby red, it's yellow. I don't know why they would change the ingredients. I don't like the improved one at all. Just wanted to warn you. I gladly recommend the original, but not the improved.

Yet another update 8/25/09: The ingredients that gave this tea such a great flavor are now in True Blueberry, a Celestial Seasonings herbal tea, and not in this one. I wish they hadn't changed this great green tea. If you want the flavor you can go herbal, but you won't get the green tea benefits.

I was addicted to Celestial Seasonings blueberry green tea & they stopped selling it at my local grocery store, so I started ordering it online. Now it appears the tea has been changed. It smells a bit like blueberry but the wonderful taste is gone. I am sad.

The CS Blueberry tea was hands down my favorite green tea for a long time. It didn't suffer from that bitter green tea aftertaste that a lot of teas have and the blueberry flavor was mixed in just perfect, not overwhelming but not bland at all. Needless to say, when the grocery stores near me stopped carrying the blueberry line altogether, I was pretty upset. Fast-forward to yesterday, I'm checking out the green teas in Publix and I was shocked to see that the blueberry flavor was back. Naturally, I picked up a couple boxes. Just had my first cup of it, and I'm struggling to understand how the people at CS thought it would be a good idea to replace the original recipe with this bland, flavorless blend. It's not an awful taste, mind you. It does taste exceptionally smooth, as the new box advertises. But the white tea that they apparently infused it with to get this smoothness also robbed it of its previously perfect blueberry flavor. Now it doesn't really taste like berries at all. It's just another smooth but bland, flavorless green tea.

Like others here, I found the original formulation available up until a year or so ago to be the BEST green tea ever. It was exactly because it DIDN'T taste or look like green tea that it was superior, it tasted like tangy blueberries with green tea. Now it tastes and looks like green tea with a tepid blueberry flavoring. I contacted Hain/Celestial Seasonings three times to register my displeasure...guess what....they don't care!

They did their focus groups, and had their meetings, and decided that changing the formula and the artwork for that matter was strategically superior to what they were doing before. We just have to accept that sometimes the powers that be get it wrong, and try to come up with a workaround.

I have found that the Hibiscus/Blueberry Superflower Tea from the Republic of Tea is a decent substitute, as long as you brew it with a bag of your favorite green tea.(Was brewing two bags at a time anyway because I drink 16 oz. of tea at a time.)

Ujinotsuyu's genmaicha is one of my favorite packaged teas. It has a rich, strong, and full taste. In comparison, Yamatoyama's genmaicha tastes a little burnt, and other genmaichas seem somewhat diluted. If you like the genmaicha served in Japanese restaurants, you really ought to try Ujinotsuyu's version -- you're going to love this stuff. These tea bags are strong enough for two uses (steepings).

I've gone out of my way to purchase this tea. In the New York City metropolitan area, one may also find Ujinotsuyu's genmaicha in ethnic Japanese, Korean, and Chinese supermarkets, although searching may be required.

Delicious, warming, nourishing tea for a chilly day. This product is a bagged mixture of green tea and little bits of toasted rice. When brewed, you get tea that has a sort of cozy, toasty, nutty flavor to it. It's really pleasant to sip on a blustery autumn day! Some tips: green tea is more delicate than black, so use water that is slightly cooled from boiling--not at boiling temperature--as you would with an herbal tea. Also, this tea, IMHO, is best left unsweetened; the sugar would mask the delicate green tea flavor and the nuttiness of the toasted rice. Brew it for about 3-5 minutes, although (unlike with black tea) you won't end up with an undrinkably bitter brew if left in longer.

Also, as noted before--this is tea, NOT soup. The rice is enclosed in the bag with the tea leaves. It lends flavor, not substance.

This is a very flavorful green tea - smooth and easy to drink. I first had it in one of my favorite sushi restaurants, and liked it so much I ordered some for home!

I have tried this tea and was disappointed. The taste of green tea was there though. I was looking forward to actual tea leaves AND actual roasted brown rice to nibble on.
